PERIODONTAL DISEASE TESTS
For BANA-type periodontal tests there are 2 options :
a) We can no longer supply BANA Test strips to EU /UK since the EU certification has expired and the manufacturer is not intending to renew this registration due to costs/time-consuming requirements of new registration controls.
It may still available for some countries not requiring CE /EU registration.
b) There is an alternative Bana type periodontal test which is fully CE marked for EU/UK and can be supplied to many countries which works in a very similar way with good results. It does not require a processor heater unit as it uses a single-use, individual, low-cost warming pack ,which is part of this registered product .
AMA PERIODONTAL TEST (BANA METHOD)
This consists of the periodontal test strips which test for the same 3 red zone bacteria as with BANA Test : B. Forsythus,T. Denticola, P. Gingivalis.
A thin sample of plaque is applied to the indicated field on the test strip.
The strip is folded closed and inserted into a single-use small palm sized warming pack for 10 minutes.
The strip is then removed and opened and if a blue colour is present this indicates the bacteria being present which cause periodontal disease.
It is a very simple to use, low-cost, reliable periodontal test for dental hospitals, research and as a screening tool for patients in dental practices. .
